Discharge Medical Debt Through Bankruptcy

Are unpaid medical bills keeping you up at night? Is the stress from the collection calls not allowing you to recover or get back on track?

Here at the Law Offices of Setareh Mahmoodi, PS we can help you discharge your medical debts through bankruptcy. Many of our clients are hardworking individuals who either had a major illness or had a spouse or family member who suffered from an illness that caused the family to accrue several thousands of dollars in medical debt that they cannot afford to pay back. Sometimes the individual or family member also lost their job due to the illness. It becomes impossible to keep up with the monthly bills and the payment plans with the medical agencies can be very difficult to keep up with.

Bankruptcy Can Offer Relief from Credit Card Debt

At the Law Offices of Setareh Mahmoodi, PS, we can help you get rid of the medical and credit card debts and allow you to have a fresh start. If you are like many debtors, you may be facing large amounts of bills from credit cards, medical providers, loans, judgments, and other debts. In some cases your wages might even be getting garnished and you are losing sleep over how you are going to pay your bills. One of the basic goals of the federal bankruptcy code is to allow debtors a fresh start and clear up burdensome debts that they can no longer manage. The Bankruptcy code’s purpose is “It gives to the honest but unfortunate debtor… A new opportunity in life and a clear field for future effort, unhampered by the pressure and discouragement of pre-existing debt.” If you are ready to take advantage of this opportunity, give our office a call and our experienced bankruptcy attorneys will provide you with a free initial phone consultation.

Keep Your Medical Providers Even After Bankruptcy

Many of our clients fear that if they include or discharge a medical debt in a bankruptcy they will no longer be able to use that provider or hospital. This is not true. You will always be able to seek medical help at an Emergency room or hospital even if you had medical bills with that hospital that was discharged in a bankruptcy. Most if not all private providers will continue to provide care to you after a bankruptcy as well. In some rare cases, you may have a small practice doctor or dentist that might not want to provide you services unless they are paid in advance, however, this is very rare and I have never had a client be rejected for medical care even by their small private practice doctors; so rest assured that you will still be able to get medical care even if the debt was discharged in a bankruptcy through other providers.

If your medical bills are currently in collection, and you cannot afford to make payment plans or keep up with the payment plans, it’s best to seek advice from an experienced lawyer. In some cases, the collection agencies will file collection actions or lawsuits against the debtor and will garnish your paychecks or bank accounts, making it even more difficult for you to keep up with your monthly bills and causing significant stress on you and your loved ones. Don’t let it get to that point, contact our office today so we can evaluate your case and advise you on your options.

When you are ready for your fresh start, and need an experienced law firm, we are here to help.
